Monday again and the last week in April. While the past few days have been gloom city, the week started off sunny and bright and I’ve managed to hold on to that disposition through the rain.
Let’s get to the report for ways to send your April out with a bang.
Acadiana Crawfish Boil
Join Acadiana Saturday, April 29th from 2 pm to 5 pm on the patio for all you can eat crawfish, steamed shrimp, andouille sausage gumbo, corn on the cob, fruit hand pies, pralines and more with live jazz and zydeco band so you can dance the afternoon away. Rain or shine, the boil will go on with door prizes given all afternoon. Included in your ticket price are a selection of draft beers and house wines. A cash bar and frozen cocktails will also be available.
National Harbor Wine and Food Festival
Join in the excitement of the 9th Annual Wine and Food Festival at National Harbor this weekend, April 29th and 30th. The festival brings together world-renowned chefs, artisanal craftsmen, and culinary pioneers with thousands of Metro DC’s foodies. Guests will enjoy over 150 different international and local wines, beers, and spirits in an all-you-care-to-taste affair. Food will be available from some of DC’s hottest restaurants and food trucks. The event will also feature an on-site wine store, a craft beer tasting bier garten, and meet and greets with regionally and nationally recognized chefs. Advance ticket purchases are recommended.
Georgetown French Market
Also this weekend (Friday through Sunday), the 14th Annual Georgetown French Market, presented by the Georgetown Business Improvement District, will transform the charming Book Hill neighborhood of Georgetown into a Parisian-inspired open-air market. More than 40 locally owned boutiques, cafes, salons and galleries will offer designer goods, art, home furnishings, French fare and more with some items up to 75% off! Whimsical street performers, face painters, and live French and gypsy jazz will offer fun and entertainment for all ages.
I dream of visiting Charleston, South Carolina someday soon but in the meantime I’m drooling over In a DC Minute’s food lover’s guide to the city.
