As much as we wish we could, we can’t spend all of our time in Brazil traveling to new and exciting places. Our home base is a smaller (but very affordable) city and although there’s not a ton to do on the weekends, we’ve managed to find several fun ways to get the most out of this extended travel experience.
We’ve enjoyed seeing a movie for the first time since… Gone Girl? We watched Mad Max (surprisingly good and I hate action movies) at a nice theater here in Bauru, in English with American subtitles. The conversion rate makes the movie going experience much cheaper for us here than in the U.S. (which is why we don’t go that often, plus I hate sitting for that long) which is a nice perk.
We also went to a Festa Junina one weekend, a traditional party celebrating the end of the rainy season and rural life with lots of food, a bonfire and dancing.
I posted additional photos on the Bad Sentences Facebook page.
But perhaps the most fun and scenic activity we’ve come up with so far was a visit to the local golf club on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
After some research, however, we discovered that he could rent equipment for a reasonable price at a golf club just thirty minutes from our apartment.
Tom, however, was in heaven.
Golfing in Brazil isn’t very common, so we had the course almost entirely to ourselves, which was very serene and peaceful.
And of course, toward the end of the round, Brazil treated us with another of her perfect sunsets.
