While in Brookland last weekend, we made a point to stop by Chocolate City Beer, after hearing the sad news that they will be closing on December 31, 2014.
We arrived at about 1 p.m. to find a line of people waiting for tastings and pints of beer in the tasting room. We had tastes of the two beers they were pouring: the Cerveza Nacional and the Cornerstone Copper Ale, which I’ve had before and always enjoy.
I don’t know much about the reasoning behind the brewery’s closing, but hope to see more of the brewers’ work in the future if they so choose. Otherwise, I wish them well in their future endeavors, whatever they may be.
If you’re a fan of Chocolate City Beer, or haven’t yet been, be sure to stop by this weekend for a farewell pint or growler.
