It’s hard to believe it’s the last (unofficial) week of summer. We somehow forgot to make any plans for the upcoming long weekend, but luckily my cousin is coming to town and I’m so excited to hang out with her. After this weekend, things are going to get a little crazy around here. We’ll be traveling more often than not, and I’m super excited, but I’m definitely going to luxuriate in these final days of relaxation before the madness begins. Here are our best bets to get you through this week and Labor Day weekend.
Wine Country Boil at Stone Tower Winery
Join Stone Tower Winery for a seafood feast to celebrate their fourth anniversary! The Wine Country Boil kicks off Labor Day Weekend on Thursday, August 31st at 7pm at the Harvest Barn. Your $70 ticket includes a glass of wine, a bucket of low country boil, tasty apps, sides and dessert and live bluegrass music from the Short Hill Mountain Boys. You can add a fresh Maine lobster to your feast for $15. Please note that all evening events at Stone Tower past 6pm are for adults only.
Silver Opens in Cathedral Heights
Silver, the restaurant with the heart of a diner and style of a brasserie, is opening a new location in DC’s Cathedral Heights. Their second location officially opens tomorrow, September 29th, for dinner. Lunch and breakfast service will follow on September 12th. Do yourself a favor and order the pickle fried chicken sandwich.
Frosty Delights Cooking Class at Via Umbria
A big part of Italian culture can be found in the kitchen. Join Via Umbria on Tuesday, August 29th at 7 p.m. for a class featuring authentic Italian alternatives to ice cream. No need for an ice cream machine, just step into the Laboratorio demonstration kitchen and Via Umbria’s chef will inspire your taste buds and weekend plans alike with a demonstration and tasting of four delightfully frosty sweets. Tickets are $35 and include the chef’s demonstration, recipe cards and treats made in the class. Beer and wine are available for purchase throughout the event.
District Winery Opens in Navy Yard
Another exciting opening! On Wednesday, August 30th District Winery will host their Grand Opening in Navy Yard. You can enjoy wine tastings all weekend, and tours will start next week on September 9th. The building looks gorgeous and we can’t wait to check it out.
