Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’re all managing to stay warm. It has been downright frigid in DC lately, and even though we did venture out for errands, a long overdue family get together and a delicious dinner over the weekend I barely took my gloves off long enough to snap any photos. Instead, I dug into my archives for a warm weather reminder from our trip to Paraty in 2015. I think we could all use a beach getaway right about now!
If a vacation isn’t in the cards just yet, here are a few local ways to distract yourself from the cold.
A comforting bowl of house made pasta is a sure-fire way to escape this inhospitable weather. Head into Osteria Morini on Mondays for $10 bowls of select pastas. We haven’t visited yet for this promotion, but have been to the restaurant several times and the pasta is always delicious.
Joselito Soft Opening
Joselito Casa De Comidas soft opens today at 5:30 p.m.in the Eastern Market neighborhood. The intimate Spanish restaurant, which takes over the space of former Bad Sentences favorite Sona Creamery, is sure to be a cozy winter respite. Today through Sunday, guests will receive a 20% discount on food. If you miss the opening, they will also offer a Hemingway Hour daily from 4 to 7 p.m. when all food and beverage will be discounted 20%. We’re definitely looking forward to checking this one out soon!
Winter Whale Watching
Maybe you don’t want to avoid the cold? In that case, perhaps a trip to Virginia Beach to do some whale watching is in order. I actually didn’t know you could spot whales this close to home, and am now scheming ways to get down there myself.
Our friends at In a DC Minute rounded up their 2016 Hot Minute Awards.
