Happy Tuesday! I hope some of you were able to enjoy a long weekend in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We had a very cozy weekend at home, taking care of Ashton after some minor procedures he had at the vet last week. I had to work yesterday, but Tom took advantage of being off and got us a table at Rose’s Luxury to celebrate my upcoming birthday a little bit early. As always, it was a fabulous meal. It’s going to be a crazy week in DC. We’re going on a little getaway to continue the birthday celebrations, but for those staying in town here are some nonpolitical things to get you through the madness.
Another Opening in Ivy City
La Puerta Verde, opening tonight at 5 p.m., is joining the booming Ivy City community. The casual Mexican eatery will pay homage to both Mexican cuisine and the many individuals owner Ari Gejdenson has had the pleasure of working with throughout his journey in the hospitality world as a restaurateur. La Puerta Verde is from the Mindful Restaurant Group who are also behind nearby Ari’s Diner and Dock FC and other DC favorites like Acqua al 2 and Denson Liquor Bar.

DC is Real
Leading up to the inauguration, A Creative DC is giving voice to district residents who love our city for reasons far beyond politics. Thousands have written in for the reasons DC is Real to them. Reading the ever-growing responses fills my heart with pride for this great city.
