Happy New Year! Most of us are back to work today after a nice break. I hope your inboxes aren’t too scary and the coffee is flowing.
The holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean things have to get boring. Maybe it’s because I’ve been so sick lately, or maybe I’m just a realist, but this is the first time in a long time I haven’t thought about losing weight in the new year (not that I don’t need to). Instead I’m just looking forward to all the fun things I’ll get to do once I’m feeling better. Here are a few things on my radar.
Breakfast All Day at Ari’s Diner
I will definitely be hitting up brand new Ari’s Diner the next time I’m in Ivy City. There are few things more satisfying in life than a good diner breakfast. Starting today, the classic American diner will offer a new dinner service, with both traditional dinner items and your favorite breakfast dishes. I’m loving it.
Get to Know the Greek Islands through Food
If your New Years resolution is to brush up on your cultural knowledge, Mezze Culture has you covered. This Sunday, along with DC restaurant Kellari Taverna, they’ll be offering an exclusive introduction to fresh fish from Greece while exploring Greek culture through food. Tickets are $5 and include entry to the event, and a shared selection of specialty Greek desserts. Guests will pay host directly for anything else purchased during the gathering.
DCity Smokehouse is Back
The long anticipated opening of the new DCity Smokehouse will finally come to fruition tomorrow, January 4th. They’ll offer their old menu favorites along with some new additions in a bigger, more inviting space. The restaurant features two different smokers, house-baked bread and a lineup of local beers and ANXO ciders.
Are you guys watching The OA yet? It’s so weird, but also addicting. We finished it this weekend and now Tom and I are constantly trading theories over the controversial ending. If you’re looking for something to binge during the never-ending rain, it’s a good one. Now, what should I watch next?
