Well, here we are. It was a tumultuous, yet exciting weekend in DC and around the country. Now, we move forward, which means something different for everyone. Although I’m saddened by the current division happening in our country, I’m also empowered by how much it has encouraged individuals to take an active part in the democratic process. The next four years are definitely going to transform our country and the way we see it, but because we are a part of this great nation we all have the ability to enact change and stand up for our differing beliefs. It’s a beautiful thing.
Politics aside, last week was pretty enjoyable on my end. We took a quick getaway for both Tom and my birthdays to Charlottesville, Virginia on Thursday and Friday. The weather was decidedly gloomy, but we still had a great time.
I can’t wait to share everything we did, saw and ate in our short time there. In the meantime, here’s this week’s B.S. Report.
Framebridge at Union Market
If, like me, you have several bare walls in your home screaming for art but little time to frame said art – you’re in luck. Framebridge is popping up at Union Market from January 23rd to February 18th. For a limited time, expert design specialists will be available for frame-style consultations, art drop-offs and help with gallery wall projects. Walk ins are welcome, or you can schedule an appointment online.
Free Shake Shack
According to Washington City Paper, Shake Shack launched their new mobile app today featuring a location finder and options to order and pay in advance. Anyone who downloads it between now and February 28th, 2017 can receive one free ShackBurger.
Ben’s Upstairs Culinary Cup
Chopped fans will enjoy Ben’s Culinary Cup 2017, a competition between two culinary masters who will create amazing dishes using three “special ingredients”. Round 1 is a battle between Chef Damian Brown and Chef Rob Lindsay. Enjoy drink specials that pair great with this special menu. Each attendee is welcome to participate as a judge via a Twitter poll. Tickets start at $35.
I guess it’s time to start preparing for the Super Bowl already. I’m not big on the game, but I’m all about the food. Capital Cooking has an easy and delicious recipe for bacon-wrapped little smokies that are sure to be a hit.
Confession: I have never felt more disorganized in my life than I have the past several months. Between the holidays, some family difficulties and now an impending move I am all over the place. So I’m all about posts like this from Forever Amber about getting organized for the year ahead, in blogging and in life.
