Hey everyone! I’ve been a little absent lately. We ended up taking a last-minute quickie trip to Austin, Texas last week. Tom had a work conference to attend, and I have a cousin out there I’ve been wanting to visit so it all worked out perfectly. Unfortunately, I picked up another minor cold somewhere along the way and sleep has been majorly lacking. However, I think I’m finally getting back to myself and ready to fill you in on our trips to both Charlottesville and Austin.
In the meantime, it’s been too long since we’ve done a Weekly B.S. Report, so let’s get started!
Jaws Screening at Whaley’s
Whaley’s will host a late night screening of the iconic classic, Jaws, in their nautical-themed dining room. It’s happening Sunday, February 12th at 9 p.m. Guest bartender Tony Lawson of the upcoming Hill Prince Bar will be slinging cocktails and you’ll get old bay popcorn on the house. Entry is free.
Get Your Valentine’s Day Plan in Order
Tom and I don’t really have big plans for Valentine’s Day this year, since we’ll be in the midst of moving madness. But, we’ll definitely be referring to this interactive map of the 25 Most Romantic Restaurants in the DC area for a make-up date night after the move. Once you find a restaurant in your neighborhood, you can click directly from the map to make a reservation. Valentine’s Day plans, solved.
Pineapple and Pearls Taco Pop-Up
If you want a taste of the culinary genius behind Pineapple and Pearls, without the high price tag, head to Archipelago Sunday at 5 p.m. Chefs Scott Muns and Samuel Meoño will be hosting a taco pop-up and the tiki bar’s Owen Thomson is providing the cocktails. Expect five different types of street-style tacos at around $3 per taco.
My lovely friend Parita just started a brand new vegetarian restaurant review blog – The Blissful Veggie – and it is so great. You definitely need to check it out if you’re in the Chicago area or planning to travel there soon!
