“I have known writers over the years, enormously talented, who are so self conscious about it, who are so terrified of writing a bad sentence, that they can’t write anything at all. I think a certain fearlessness in the face of ineptitude is a useful tool.”
My name is Kacy, and I’ve never been afraid to write bad sentences. You might find a few of them here, although I aim for more good ones than bad. These sentences will primarily be about travel, wine and food with pinches of this and that thrown in, to taste.
A quick bit about me. I was born and raised in a very small town in Oklahoma. I say fixin’ to and y’all un-ironically. I’m a Sooner born and a Sooner bred, meaning I wore crimson and cream before I could walk and then went to the University of Oklahoma and every college football Saturday will find me screaming nonsensically at the TV.
After 25 years in Oklahoma, I finally answered the call of the road and packed up all of my stuff and took a 21 hour drive by myself to Arlington, Virginia. It was scary, I didn’t know anyone in the DC area at the time, but the decision turned out to be one of the best of my life.
During my first few months in Virginia, I had what one might consider a pretty terrible job. But as fate would have it, that terrible job landed me at the cubicle next to this guy.
Worth it. Eventually, Tom and I moved into the District, spending our days exploring DC’s streets and burgeoning food scene. He loves to travel as much as I do, and so we’ve spent as much time as possible exploring the world slowly but surely.
We also adopted the world’s most magnificent dog whose name is Ashton. No, I don’t have an affinity for Ashton Kutcher, but at age 9 it seemed cruel to change it. Plus, I must admit it suits him.
He’s quite dapper, no? This little guy is quite the traveler as well, going places like Chicago, Oklahoma, the Outer Banks in North Carolina and even as far away as Brazil, where we recently lived for five months.
In August 2015, we returned to DC settling into the Navy Yard neighborhood where we plan to explore our little area of the world like travelers, until our next destination…
P.S. – It’s not lost on me that Bad Sentences, when abbreviated, shortens to B.S.
